Nigeria now has a female only university, Tazkiyah University, with the lecturers likely to be all female too.
A WhatsApp user announced this following the recent accreditation of nine more private universities by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
According to the write up by the WhatsApp user, the university, to be sited in Zaria, Kaduna State, was founded by the renowned Sufi Sheikh, Professor Ibrahim Maqari, who also serves as the Chief Imam of the National Mosque, Abuja.
The writer added: “It is envisioned as a university exclusively for women, potentially even staffed entirely by female lecturers—an unprecedented model in Nigeria’s higher education system.”

Professor Maqari. Who first hinted about the establishment of the university on his Facebook page, expressed gratitude to God.
He said the profits generated by the institution will be placed in a fund to support orphans indefinitely.
The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, had last week announced the newly-approved universities.
He listed them as Tazkiyah University, Kaduna State; Leadership University, Abuja; Jimoh Babalola University, Kwara State; Bridget University, Mbaise, Imo State; Greenland University, Jalingo, Taraba State; JEFAP University, Niger State; Azione Verde University, Imo State; Unique Open University, Lagos State; and American Open University, Ogun State.
Although the university’s permanent site is proposed in Kaduna State, initial operations would begin in Zaria, before moving fully to Kaduna, the state capital.
